Case Study: The Festival of Education 2019

The Event

We have worked with The Festival of Education since its inception in 2010. The event has grown to become one of the largest education events of its kind in the UK. This year’s event attracted over 4200 attendees who listened to over 400 speakers across 250 seminar sessions. The festival took place in June within the grounds of Wellington College where we are already appointed as the inhouse event production contractor.

Our Brief

Working closely with the festival organiser and Wellington College our team consulted on the layout of the festival where we were tasked with providing production, power and print solutions across the entire site. We benefit by having a close working relationship with marquee supplier Meridian Marquees and assisted with the site planning. Whilst there is access to the large venues a few days in advance, the exhibitor venues complete build the evening before exhibitors arrive which leaves a very short timeline for this part of the build.

 

                                                         

Our Work

Our team consisted of 14 event day crew. We spent 4 build days installing full site power which required 1500m of mains cable to be laid. We provided production to 16 venues (9 marquee sites and 6 college venues) and built and supported the venues with over 50 speaker boxes, 40 display screens along with over 100 pieces of signage whilst ensuring that the standard of production and branding were the same across the entire site.

One of the college venues used this year was the new Performing Arts Centre. This replaced an 800-seater marquee where we provided rugs, sofas and coffee tables on stage dressed with silver birch trees. This allowed us to create a laid back festival feel rather than a too formal stage set up.

An event of this size and nature has many challenges and complexities. Over the two event days we provided full onsite technical and production support for our 16 venues by managing content.
