Use your Hanger to host your eventWhat do you do if you have a large hanger and need to seat four hundred people for a dinner event and six hundred people for an open day beforehand? Easy! Use the hanger next to your offices and turn it in to a ball room and conference theatre. We utilise the inside of the hanger by building a large set, putting in a lighting rig, putting in a sound system, and building a stage. With a suitable frame holding the roof, it meant we could fly all the lighting, using chain blocks and QX30 truss, we had to cover the dance floor, stage and table area. We used Source Four profiles with break-up gobo’s to cover the dining area, along with pin spot banks, to pin spot each table. The dance floor was covered with Martin Mac 300’s and Martin Mac 250’s along with some Martin Robocolour Pro 400’s, and the stage had simple white light provided by Source Four Par’s. Down both sides of the venue, we used LED colour bricks to light the linings. Control from the room came off an Avolites Azure 2000 During the day, the area is used for an open day, so the stage is in use with the presentations and screen displaying power point. At 3pm we have a two hour window, to change the stage round for the band and get the area ready for a dinner. The hanger is quite a size so for the sound element, we utilised Tannoy V8’s; on sticks down each side and flown on the truss spine down the centre, and then D&B C7 for the FOH system later on when the band and DJ were playing. The set used is our 16’ high, 24’ wide set, with 16:9 ratio projection screen, because of the space in the hanger we use rear projection, and use our Christie Roadster X6 DLP Projector. All the presentations are on power point, but interlaced with DVD’s, so we use a range of suitable processing equipment. It just shows what you can do to turn a space into an space suitable for two events in one day, this transformation takes place four times a year. Meridian Marquees our sister company use standard marquee linings to transform the inside of the hanger. Then carpet the floor, so it isn’t left plain on the inside. For more information:-
